President Solih in a tweet at the end of his official visit to Addu City promised on Monday that the development-picture painted by the people of the atoll will be executed in full without alterations.

He thanked the people of Addu City for their hospitality and the trust that they put in him. During his official visit to Addu City, he launched several new development projects in addition to witnessing progress of on-going projects in the atoll including a major road construction project.

Inaugurating a land reclamation project, the President said that it is intended to be a major part of Addu City’s opening to the world. The government plans to make Addu a regional economic hub consisting of Huvadhoo Atoll, Fuahmulah City and Addu City through the expansion of Gan International Airport project which was also inaugurated during his visit.

President Solih separately held meetings with Addu City Council and other organizations to consult them on matters of development of the city. Also, he visited the Detoxification and Community Rehabilitation Center in Hulhudhoo to check its functioning.

The government is implementing a huge development package of several projects in Addu City which is targeted to become a regional economic powerhouse. These efforts are directed towards uplifting the people living there in many ways, says the government.
