Following the democratic traditions India and the Maldives share, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla met the leadership of the Opposition party Coalition.
During the meeting Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla briefed them on India-supported projects in the Maldives, being undertaken as per Maldivian priorities. The opposition coalition recognized India’s historical assistance and expressed strong support for further deepening the India-Maldives relations.
The opposition coalition also expressed their concerns over the imprisonment of the former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom.
From the opposition party coalition, the meeting was lead by the former President and the special advisor for the Progressive Party of Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan. The meeting was attended by the leadership of the Opposition party Coalition.
