The Maldives Criminal Court has ordered a six month jail sentence to a man who has threatened to blow up a shop.

The prosecution charged Ibrahim Hassan, 28, of Kandoomaage, Kulhudhuffushi, with intimidation. The charges allege that on February 4 this year, Ibrahim Hassan threatened the owner of the shop Farireethi, based in Kulhudhuffushi.

Ibrahim Hassan pleaded guilty to the charges of intimidation during the investigation and trial. Therefore, the case was concluded and the judgment was handed down yesterday.

The basic punishment for this offense is six months and 18 days in jail. However, he pleaded guilty and the judge reduced his sentence to six months.

He will serve five months and 22 days in jail after deducting eight days in custody.
