Data from the Maldives Customs Service (MCS) show that government revenues in tariffs have increased last month compared to the month of May, 2022.

According to the data, CIF value of goods imported last month recorded a five percent increase compared to the same month of 2022.

According to MCS, Maldives imported goods worth Rufiyaa 4.4 billion in May 2022 and the figure for the same month this year rose to Rufiyaa 4.6.

Government revenues recorded for last month increased by 19 percent this year compared to May 2022, Customs data show.

Customs collected Rufiyaa 357 million in revenues last month while the figure for May 2022 was Rufiyaa 300 million.

Last month’s major exporters to Maldives were India, UAE, China, Oman and Singapore. Rufiyaa figures for goods imported in May 2023 from the above countries are as follows: India - 901 million, UAE - 645 million, China - 642 million, Oman - 551 million and Singapore – 419 million.
