Ibrahim Ameer, the Minister of Finance, tweeted yesterday that it has been thirty-six years since state-owned land plots have been granted to residents of Male’ for living purposes.

The sincerity of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has ended this long and hopeless wait of the permanent residents of Male’, assuring him a second term in office which “he will win, Allah Willing, in a single-round” on September 9 election, Ameer said.

Minister Ameer’s statement was in response to the government’s announcement of the list of recipients of land plots in Male’ – Area under the “Binveriya (let people own land) Housing Scheme”.

In the past thirty-six years, “Male’ residents have seen four governments that have not been able to grant them land plots for living”, Ameer said.

“This is an extraordinary feat in public administration” that President Solih has decided to award land plots to ten thousand permanent residents, to be precise 10,314, of Male’, Ameer said.
