The Ministry of Education says that since the upwards revision of salaries and benefits to educators and other skilled workers by the present government, the difficulties faced earlier by the ministry in recruitment are fading away.

According to the ministry, those who left the education system are coming back to take jobs as teachers in greater numbers as a result of the increase in the pay packages.

Returning educators are partly solving the ministry’s recruitment problems, said the ministry.

Speaking to Raajje TV, the Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Education Mohamed Ihsan said, “those who had left the education system due to pay and benefits problems are returning to the system now. This includes teachers and other specialized workers who had contributed to the educational system of the country”.

Ihsan said that foreigners are recruited in the education system of the country when there is a national shortage of skilled labor in the sector.

He requested educators and specialists who had contributed and later taken up other jobs to return to the system.
