MP Mohamed Shifau, MDP - Ihavandhoo Constituency, says that Ihavandhoo is experiencing developments in all fields for the first time in five decades.

He said, infrastructural and other developments began taking shape in Ihavandhoo which is located in North Thiladhunmathi Atoll, at the start of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration in 2018.

On Wednesday, addressing a rally held in Ihavandhoo in the presence of President Solih, MP Shifau blasted previous governments for neglecting Ihavandhoo when it most needed infrastructural and other developments.

MP Shifau said that even though the previous governments have not taken Ihavandhoo seriously, the present administration of President Solih considers it a significant contributor to the country’s fisheries industry.

MP Shifau noted the expansion of the shore boundary of Ihavandhoo from land reclamation by the present government as evidence that supports his statement.

“President Solih changed the map of Ihavandhoo by reclaiming land,” said MP Shifau - who was from the Island where approximately three thousand people live.

He predicted President Solih would win a shocking majority in Ihavandhoo in the second week of the September presidential election.

According to MP Shifau, Ihavandhoo was not alone in receiving the present government's development projects, but developments have reached and touched all parts of the country meaningfully during the last five years.

“President Solih has solved age-old problems of the islanders in all parts of the country”, MP Shifau said in the rally.

President Solih’s performance has won him the hearts and minds of the people in all the atolls, said MP Shifau in his final comments at Wednesday’s assembly.
