Jumhooree Party’s presidential candidate MP Qasim Ibrahim says that the former minister of tourism Ali Waheed could play a major role in the effort exerted by the party for winning the September presidential election.
Ali returned to Maldives after ending a self-imposed exile in the United Kingdom on July 11. The first political leader that Ali met upon his return home was MP Qasim Ibrahim. After meeting MP Qasim Ibrahim on July 14, Ali told the local media that he remained loyal to MP Qasim and his Jumhooree Party.
MP Qasim on Thursday made Ali his top political advisor and campaign agent. MP Qasim expressed his gratitude to Ali for accepting Jumhooree Party’s offer of the positions and engaging in active politics under the umbrella of the party after he had ended his exile and returned home.
“I'm truly happy that former tourism minister and former President of Jumhooree Party Ali Waheed accepted my offer of the posts of Top Political Advisor and Campaign Agent. There is no doubt that Ali Waheed has the capacity for advancing the standing of the party and my personal political career,” tweeted MP Qasim.
