Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail says that the public’s complaints over internet prices and speeds have completely been eliminated.

Minister Fayyaz made the statement at a ceremony held on Friday to mark the landing of the Maldives-India Asia Express (OCM-IAX) Submarine Cable at Hulhumalé.

He said that President Solih’s administration’s efforts to make the Internet affordable were taken by the opposition as a joke. However, he said that the administration has proven the opposition wrong by significantly reducing the prices and increasing the speeds of the Internet.

“We have muted the voices of the complaints over higher prices and lower speeds. Our efforts do not end here. With the landing of the cable, prices will drop further and speeds will still increase empowering our youth to succeed in their economic activities”, said Fayyaz.
