President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced the goal to grow the state economy to reach MVR 170 billion.
President made the statement while speaking at the launch of the MDP presidential manifesto at the Social Center yesterday. In his speech, he confidently articulated his goal of expanding the economy to MVR 170 billion by 2028, which would yield revenues surpassing 45 billion MVR and ultimately reaching an impressive 50 billion MVR.
The President said the government is working to achieve that goal by taking loans. But he also reassured that the government would be able to repay the loans.
Further in his speech, President Solih declared his intentions to achieve economic growth by boosting the private sector and facilitating access to financial and loan assistance through banks.
"This is the way to double an economy. This is the way to develop the Maldives. Hopefully, we are ensuring today that the countrys economy will double within ten years," he said.
