The Finance Ministry records have shown that by the 12th of November, a total of 29,659 people have applied for the income support allowance, and by the 12th of November, the government has disbursed 125.8 million Rufiyaa as income support allowance.
The state decided on the income support allowance as many raised concerns over losing jobs and changes in salary due to the pandemic, and it is released for those whose income is affected by the covid-19 pandemic. The income support allowance is 5000 MVR per person, depending on the impacts of covid-19 on their income.
To be eligible for the income support allowance, the applicant has to be between 18 - 65 years of age and living in the Maldives.
