Faris Maumoon has apologized to the public acknowledging that some people have suffered injuries and grief during the long thirty years of his father, President Maumoon Abdul Qayyum's regime.

Faris, who is contesting the upcoming presidential election, apologized to the people in a video message shared on his personal Twitter account.

In the video, Faris says he believes that it is true that people were injured during his father's rule. He also believes that it is true that some people are still grieving.

"I am meeting here to clarify something. I believe it is true that some people were injured and grieved during President Maumoon's rule. And I believe that some people are still in this grief. I do not deny it. I apologize to you. My recent remarks have indeed increased these sorrows, so I apologize for it as well. I am determined that the people will have complete relief under my rule." Faris explained in his video message.

Faris has assured that such an event will not occur again during his administration.
