The former President and the current President of the Parliament, Mohamed Nasheed, has stated that he cannot again join with President Solih. Nasheed said this in response to the calls to reunite with President Solih.

During the last sitting of the Parliament, MDP members of the Parliament called on President Nasheed and President Saleh to reunite and work in the second round of the presidential election.

Regarding this matter, Abdullah Jabir, the Parliament member representing the Kaashidhoo constituency, expressed his support for President Nasheed. He encouraged both presidents to collaborate during the second round of the upcoming presidential election and prioritize the nation's best interests.

Jabir suggested that the Democratic presidential candidate, Ilyas Labib, won the support of people who share the same views as the MDP. Therefore, Jabir believes that the MDP leadership should start discussions with the Democrats.

"The problem that happened was the split of the MDP. There was no other problem. If it can be glued back together, we will move forward fast," he said.

However, President Nasheed responded to Jabir, "That is not going to happen anymore."

In this year's Presidential election, the two candidates with the highest number of votes have advanced to the second round. The PNC candidate, Dr. Mohammed Muizzu, and the MDP candidate, President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih, will now compete for the Presidency in the second round. The Democrats candidate, Ilyas Labyb, received 15,835 votes and came in third place.
