The opposition PPM-PNC coalition candidate, Dr. Mohammed Muizzu, has won the second round of the presidential election 2023, which was held to elect a President for the next five years.

Provisional results show Dr. Muizzu leading by a large margin. According to the results, Muizzu won with about 54.04 percent of the vote, while President Solih received 45.96 percent.

According to Elections Commission statistics, 246915 people out of the 282804 eligible voters voted in the second round of the presidential election 2023.

The presidential election of 2023 marks the first-ever multiparty voting election where eight candidates competed.
