As the conflict in the Gaza Strip intensifies, hospitals across the region face an alarming crisis. According to the United Nations humanitarian office, fuel reserves at all hospitals across the Gaza Strip are expected to last only 24 more hours.

"The shutdown of backup generators would place the lives of thousands of patients at risk," the UN humanitarian office said on its website.

Access to continuous electricity is crucial for the survival of hospitalized patients who have suffered severe injuries.

It comes after several aid agencies have called for access to Gaza to provide humanitarian assistance including fuel and water.

The current conflict makes it the deadliest of the five Gaza wars.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, the conflict in Gaza has claimed the lives of 2,670 Palestinians and left 9,600 injured.
