November 3 was the most horrifying day in the history of the Maldives, says former President Maumoon Abdul Qayyum.

Sending his Victory Day greetings to the people of the Maldives, President Maumoon today said that the people of the Maldives should always continue to praise and thank God for the glorious victory won by the country on November 3, 1988.

President Maumoon today said the events of November 3 and the conspiracies of the Maldivian rebels and foreign enemies should be deeply considered.

“It was the most horrifying day in the history of the Maldives,” President Maumoon said.

Victory Day in Maldives is marked on November 3, of each year. The day celebrates the victory of the Government of Maldives over the coup d’etat by a militant group called the People’s Liberation Organization of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE) in 1988.

The November 3, 1988, invasion of the Maldives was one of the most dangerous, terrible, and devastating attacks in the history of the country.
