A special resolution proposed to respond to the concerns raises by the Fishermen.
The special resolution was proposed to the ongoing Parliament sitting, by the Parliamentary group leader of the Peoples National Congress (PNC) party and Parliament member for Maduvvari, Mr. Adam Shareef Umar. While presenting the resolution, MP Shareef said that a lot of Fishermen are facing challenges during delay in weighing fish and getting paid for it and for which many have raised their concerns.
In the resolution MP Adam Shareef further detailed about the challenges faced by the delay in weighing fish while away from their respective islands or atolls. Which causes more expenses while waiting in queue for 3 to 4 days to weight the fish.
MP Shareef urged to find solutions for the concerns raised by the Fisherman, adding that the sooner it gets solves the more benefit for the economy growth of the Maldives. He also said that if these concerns are not addressed in a timely manner could effect negatively to the whole nation.
MP Shareef said that this a concerning issue for all the members of the Parliament as well as the families of Fishermen and if these issues are not addressed now, it could bring more challenges in future.
