The motion to remove the vice president of the House of Representatives, Eva Abdullah, is scheduled for next Sunday.

The motion to remove Eva was signed by 50 members. In addition to MDP members, the resolution was signed by Nolhivaram MP Mohammed Nasheed Abdullah.

According to a letter sent to the members by the Secretary-General of the House, the motion of no confidence should be moved at the earliest non-public holiday session after the deadline stipulated in Rule 205 of the Rules of Procedure. Therefore, the issue of Eva's dismissal will be scheduled on Sunday, stated the Secretary-General of the House.

The motion was moved after Eva obstructed the impeachment of the Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Mohamed Nasheed. Following this, the Privileges and Ethics Committee of the House of Representatives has ruled that Eva and Vilufushi MP Hassan Afeef have violated the privileges of the entire House.

The MDP had previously filed a no-confidence motion against Eva. However, the MDP withdrew the issue during the presidential election.
