Eva Abdullah resigns as Vice-Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Eva resigned after responding to parliament before a vote to remove her from office. In her address, Eva said no one can say that she is incompetent to be the Vice-President of Parliament.
The Speaker of the House, Mohamed Aslam, who presided over the meeting, announced that the House had received Eva's resignation letter.
The motion was moved after Eva obstructed the impeachment of the Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Mohamed Nasheed. Following this, the Privileges and Ethics Committee of the House of Representatives has ruled that Eva and Vilufushi MP Hassan Afeef have violated the privileges of the entire House.
The MDP had previously filed a no-confidence motion against Eva. However, the MDP withdrew the issue during the presidential election.
