The government has decided to introduce air ambulance services in the Maldives from March 1st.

Principal Secretary to the President on Public Policy, Abdullah Nazim Ibrahim, told a press conference at the Presidential Office today that all necessary preparations have been made to introduce air ambulances as proposed by the Health Ministry.

The two air ambulances are being prepared, and services are being arranged in collaboration with Maldivian, he said.

The air ambulance service will be provided under the supervision of the relevant department of the Ministry of Health to provide emergency ambulance services.

Patients brought to the city from different parts of the country are now being carried by helicopters donated by India to the Maldives and Maldivian aircraft.

The launch of air ambulance services in the country is a presidential promise of President Mohamed Muizzu.
