The Government Responsibility Committee of the Parliament has approved the cabinet formed by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The committee approved all the ministers in the President’s cabinet at its extraordinary meeting today.
At the extraordinary meeting held today, the Government Responsibility Committee proposed and approved the appointment of all ministers at once. The motion was put forward by Abdullah Riyaz, Parliament Member for Thimarafushi Constituency, and seconded by Ahmed Rasheed, Parliament Member for Hithadhoo Central Constituency. The motion was unanimously passed by the five members present during the vote.
However, members of the MDP did not participate in the vote.
During today's meeting, Mohamed Shifau, the Parliament Member for Ihavandhoo Constituency, moved to approve the ministers separately. However, the motion was not voted on as it did not receive any support.
The report of the Performance of Government Responsibility Committee has also been submitted to the House. However, the committee report was incomplete as the responsibilities or mandates of the newly created ministries were not sent to the parliament for approval.
