The Bahamas-registered cruise liner MS Crystal Symphony arrived in the Maldives yesterday, marking the first cruise ship to dock in the country this year.

The vessel carried 216 passengers and 416 crew members, according to Maldives Immigration.

The Seaport Division officers of Maldives Immigration facilitated en-route clearance for all those aboard as the ship made its way from Seychelles to the Maldives. Following its stop in the Maldives, the cruise liner is set to continue its journey to Sri Lanka.

Last month, two other cruise liners arrived in Maldives, bringing a total of 4,658 passengers. The increasing number of cruise arrivals highlights the growing appeal of the region as a popular destination for maritime tourism.
