Local authorities have decided to decrease the quarantine period from 14 days to 10 days.
Although the decision has yet to be confirmed by the Health Protection Agency (HPA), the current state of a public health emergency will also expire on December 5th.
The decision on decreasing the quarantine period was announced by the President of the Guest House Association, Abdulla Nashid. In his tweet, he thanked the Minister of Tourism, Abdulla Mausoom, and the President of the Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for shortening the quarantine period for 10 days.
Retweeting Abdulla Nasheed’s tweet, Minister of Tourism, Abdulla Mausoom, said that he hopes to maintain our safety standards with absolute minimum inconvenience to tourists.
Meanwhile, the speaker of the Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC), Dr. Nazla, has said previously that the 14 days mandatory quarantine period can detect up to a 99% if anyone is positive for Covid-19, making it the most effective to avoid or detect a spread.
