The spokesperson of the President’s office has stated that the government does not support involving Children to welcome officials.

The spokesperson of the President’s office, Mr. Ibrahim Hood, has said that using the children studying at schools to welcome the government officials is not in any way supported by the government.

He assured that the government or any of the government authorities have not requested any schools or councils to involve children to welcome the government officials when they arrive on the islands. He also said that the government urges not to involve children studying at schools in the events of welcoming government officials when they arrive on the islands.

The spokesperson's comments come following the circulated letter on social media. The letter was addressed from the President of L. Gan Council to the principal of Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani School, requesting to encourage students of the school to join in the ceremony joined by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The letter has caused a public backlash against the government and its authorities.
