The Health Protection Agency of the Maldives (HPA) has urged to wear masks in residential islands, islands with operational resorts, and islands with operational airports.
In addition to shortening the quarantine period, the announcement released by the HPA on Wednesday reads that the Director-General of Public Health, Maimoona Aboobakuru, has made changes to the measures implemented in the Maldives to control the spread of COVID-19, including mandating masks and the observation of physical distancing of 3 feet in islands.
The statement also reads that the physical distancing of 3 feet in residential islands and islands with operational resorts should be maintained.
As per the statement, workers who travel from Male’ to other islands with permission for short-term visits and to provide essential services or for projects have to present a negative Covid-19 PCR result taken within a maximum of 72 hours.
