In a bid to address the healthcare needs of the people of Villimale', President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced plans for the construction of a 100-bed tertiary hospital in the area.
During the "Raees ge Javaabu" Series facilitated by the President's Office, where he directly engages with citizens via social media, President Muizzu responded to concerns raised by Ahmed Shifan regarding the quality of healthcare services at the existing Villimale' Hospital. In response, the President assured that the issues faced by residents due to subpar health services would be resolved with the establishment of the new facility.
Highlighting the significance of the upcoming hospital, President Muizzu emphasized that its construction aims to eliminate the need for Villimale' residents to travel to Male' for medical treatment, thus enhancing accessibility to healthcare services for the local community.
The project, set to be constructed with assistance from China as part of its free aid program, is currently undergoing preliminary technical assessments. President Muizzu confirmed that the necessary land for the hospital has already been identified, signaling the imminent commencement of practical work.
"The establishment of a 100-bed tertiary hospital in Villimale' will commence very soon," stated President Muizzu, reaffirming the government's commitment to promptly addressing the healthcare needs of Villimale' residents.
The decision to build the hospital was announced by the government on December 27 last year, underlining its dedication to improving healthcare infrastructure across the Maldives.
