To celebrate Fisherman’s day, local women from Lh. Naifaru Island spends a day fishing, to experience modern-day fishing.
The event was organized by the Fisherman's Association of Naifaru and was joined by 80 local women. They departed on Wednesday evening and caught 15 tonnes of fish before reaching back to Naifaru today evening.
As per the Fisherman's Association of Naifaru, local women between the age of 18 - 60-year-old had joined in the 24-hour fishing journey. The officials of the Fisherman's Association of Naifaru have stated that this trip was supported by Naifaru Council, MNDF, MIFCO, and local businesses.
Naifaru island, located at the north of the capital, Malé is also well known for fishing in the region.
