In a recent campaign event for parliamentary candidate Abdullah Waheed, MDP President and former Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid launched scathing criticism against President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu, accusing him of fostering a climate of sedition within the nation.

Addressing attendees in support of Abdullah Waheed's candidacy for the Dhidhdhoo constituency, Shahid denounced President Muizzu's approach to nationalism, labeling it as deceptive and divisive. He asserted that despite initial pledges of fostering a spirit of nationalism upon assuming office, President Muizzu's actions have instead sown seeds of hatred, lies, and sedition among the populace.

Shahid elaborated on his concerns, citing reports from individuals at the forefront of governance who have observed President Muizzu's tactics of division. According to Shahid, these individuals have expressed apprehensions about the President's intentions, alleging that his administration is actively working to sow discord among the people.

Furthermore, Shahid drew attention to historical precedents, cautioning against the perils of building nationalism on foundations of hatred, lies, and sedition. He underscored the potential consequences of such divisive tactics, emphasizing the need for unity and inclusivity in national governance.

President Muizzu's administration has yet to respond to Shahid's allegations, which come amidst heightened political tensions leading up to the parliamentary elections.
