Former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed expressed optimism today, stating that there are no longer any obstacles to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's promises following the ruling Progressive National Congress's (PNC) supermajority win in yesterday's parliamentary elections.

Former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed conveyed his sentiments on X following the PNC's landslide victory in the parliamentary elections. He emphasized that with the ruling party securing a supermajority, President Muizzu now has the opportunity to fulfill his commitments to the nation without hindrance.

In his statement, Dr. Jameel urged President Muizzu's administration to prioritize sincerity in addressing the people's needs and improving their living conditions. He stressed the importance of steering clear of corruption and actions detrimental to freedom.

"Do not allow corruption and malpractice. Cease all activities that infringe upon freedom immediately. Uphold your promise to reclaim lost maritime territory. Refrain from selling the country's assets, including airports, ports, and land. Deliver on your pledge to uplift the populace from poverty to prosperity," Dr. Jameel asserted.

Additionally, Dr. Jameel pledged his support for any honest endeavors undertaken by the government. However, he remained resolute in his commitment to opposing any wrongdoing perpetrated by the administration.

The PNC emerged victorious across all major cities in the parliamentary elections, including the capital city Male' and Addu City, traditionally stronghold areas for the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
