Minister of Foreign Affairs, Moosa Zameer, held discussions with Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), during a meeting in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Thursday.

Reflecting on the enduring friendship and cooperation between the Maldives and the UAE, Minister Zameer expressed appreciation for the strong ties maintained between the two nations by the Government of the UAE.

During the meeting, Minister Zameer commended the generous assistance and steadfast support extended by ADFD for various projects in the Maldives. He also explored opportunities to advance proposals submitted to the Fund for further collaboration.

In particular, Minister Zameer expressed gratitude for ADFD's support towards the extension of Velana International Airport, emphasizing its significance in enhancing connectivity, attracting more tourists, and bolstering the Maldives' economic resilience. He also underscored the importance of the Maafaru International Airport project in facilitating investment cooperation and expanding avenues for development.



The discussions between Minister Zameer and Director General Al Suwaidi underscored the mutual commitment of the Maldives and the UAE to strengthening bilateral cooperation and fostering sustainable development initiatives for the benefit of both nations.
