The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has announced that its parliamentary group elections will take place on May 28.
This election will include the selection of key leadership positions within the parliamentary group, including the parliamentary group leader, two vice-leaders, secretary general, deputy secretary general, chief whip, and two whips.
The MDP has specified that any party members from the parliamentary group who wish to contest these positions must submit their nominations via email by 14:00 on Monday, May 27.
The elections coincide with the swearing-in ceremony of the 20th term of the House of Representatives, which will also occur on May 28. The new parliamentary term consists of 93 members, of which only 12 are from the MDP.
