The Chinese government has been awarded the contract to conduct a feasibility study for the development of a 100-bed tertiary hospital in Vilimale'. The agreement, signed between the Maldives Construction Ministry and the Chinese Embassy, marks a significant step towards improving healthcare infrastructure in the region.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony held today at Dharumavantha Hospital. Representing the Maldives, Minister of Construction Dr. Abdulla Muththalib signed the agreement, while China’s Ambassador to the Maldives, Wang Lixin, signed on behalf of China.
This initiative follows the announcement by Health Minister Dr. Abdullah Khaleel on December 27 last year, outlining the government’s decision to build a 100-bed hospital in Vilimale'. The feasibility study will evaluate the potential for constructing the hospital, which aims to enhance healthcare services and accessibility for residents.
The collaboration underscores the strengthening ties between the Maldives and China, with the feasibility study serving as a foundational step towards realizing the proposed healthcare facility.
