Cyber crime cases are increasingly prevalent in the Maldives, according to Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusan. Speaking at the Global Security Forum, Minister Ihusan underscored the growing issue and its detrimental effects on both the economy and individual citizens.

In his address, Ihusan highlighted the significant threats posed by cyber crime to the security of personal and financial information. He stressed that these crimes undermine the integrity of businesses and the Maldivian government, raising serious concerns about the reliability and safety of online transactions.

"The Maldives depends heavily on modern tools for public life, government administration, and financial transactions," Ihusan said. He emphasized that the rising incidence of cyber crime is eroding public trust in these digital platforms.

Despite the escalating problem, Minister Ihusan expressed optimism about the Maldives' ability to combat cyber threats. He assured that with strong security measures, the country is actively strengthening its defenses against cyber attacks and working to minimize the impact on its citizens and institutions.
