President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended his heartfelt wishes for a speedy recovery to His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia, who is also the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

In a compassionate message posted on X (formerly Twitter), President Muizzu conveyed his well-wishes to King Salman, expressing the sentiments of the Maldivian government and its people.

"Deeply concerned about the reports of the health of His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz, King of Saudi Arabia, and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. On behalf of the Government and people of the Maldives, I wish His Majesty a full and speedy recovery. May Almighty Allah (SWT) bless His Majesty with good health and a long life," President Muizzu stated.

The Saudi Royal Court announced late Sunday that King Salman, 88, had been diagnosed with a lung infection and underwent treatment involving antibiotics. "After undergoing a medical examination at the Royal Clinics at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques has been diagnosed with lung inflammation," the court said. "The medical team has prescribed a course of antibiotics for his treatment."

Last month, the Saudi king underwent routine examinations at King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Jeddah, where he spent several hours before being discharged. In May 2022, the monarch was admitted to the hospital for a colonoscopy and other medical tests. He also underwent gallbladder removal surgery in 2020.

King Salman has been ruling Saudi Arabia since 2015 after spending two and a half years as a crown prince. His leadership and stewardship, especially as the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, have made him a pivotal figure in the Muslim world.
