The Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Mohamed Ameen, announced today that the longstanding issues with the airport taxi queue have been resolved. Speaking at a press conference, Minister Ameen outlined the steps taken by the Ministry to ensure that services at the airport are provided in accordance with the rules and regulations.

Minister Ameen highlighted that the introduction of a QR code system, developed in consultation with taxi drivers and considering public complaints, has significantly improved the situation. The Minister noted that the arrangement of the taxi queue by the police has also contributed to the resolution of the problems.

"The airport taxi queue issue has seen substantial improvement since the police began managing the queue," said Minister Ameen. "However, the issue will be completely resolved with the opening of the new departure terminal."

The Minister explained that the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) will implement a numbering system and provide the necessary space for taxis to stop, further streamlining the process.

Looking ahead, Minister Ameen revealed plans to introduce meter taxis in the near future. The use of an app-based meter system will ensure uniform pricing and enhance the overall efficiency and fairness of the taxi service at the airport.
