The Maldives has announced a ban on entry for individuals holding Israeli passports, as stated by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusan during a press conference at the Presidential Office today. This decision was reached during a Cabinet meeting and marks a significant policy shift in the Maldives' approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Minister Ihusan detailed that a special committee has been established to enforce the ban. The committee includes Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer, Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal, Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed, and Attorney General Ahmed Usham, alongside Minister Ihusan himself.

In addition to the passport ban, President Mohamed Muizzu has decided to appoint a special envoy tasked with understanding the demands of Palestinians regarding the Israeli-Palestinian issue. This move is part of a broader effort to align Maldivian foreign policy with its support for the Palestinian cause.

To further support Palestinians, the government plans to host events aimed at raising funds for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). These efforts underscore the Maldives' commitment to providing humanitarian aid to Palestinian refugees.
