In a significant announcement, Saudi Arabia has declared tomorrow, June 7, as the commencement of the month of Hajj after the sighting of the moon. This declaration sets in motion the annual pilgrimage season, one of the holiest events in Islam, drawing millions of Muslims from around the world to the holy city of Mecca.

According to the Saudi government's announcement, the day of Arafat is scheduled for June 15 this year, with Eid al-Adha, to be celebrated on June 16.

Following suit, the Maldives affirmed June 7 as the onset of Hajj, aligning its observance with Saudi dates. Arafat Day in the Maldives is confirmed for June 15, with Eid festivities scheduled for June 16.

As pilgrims from around the globe prepare for their journey to the holy city of Mecca, the last group from the Maldives is set to depart tomorrow, marking the beginning of their spiritual pilgrimage.

The Maldives government has announced its closure from June 14 to June 22 to coincide with the duration of Hajj and Eid festivities.
