At the request of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, a nationwide telethon aimed at supporting Palestinians has raised MVR 1.8 million within its first six hours. The telethon, which began at 8 am, is open to all citizens and will continue until midnight.
Thirteen donation boxes have been placed around the Malé area to facilitate contributions. For those unable to access these boxes, donations can be made directly to two dedicated bank accounts: one for MVR deposits (account number 7730000655865) and another for USD deposits (account number 7730000655866).
The fundraising effort comes in response to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where thousands of Palestinians have lost their lives due to ongoing violence, described by the international community as genocide. The telethon aims to provide significant aid to those affected by the conflict, demonstrating the solidarity and generosity of the Maldivian people.
The event, organized by Public Service Media (PSM) in collaboration with other local media, highlights the Maldives' commitment to supporting Palestine during this critical time.
