In a heartfelt message shared during UNICEF's Global Parenting Month, First Lady Sajidha Mohamed emphasized the crucial importance of increasing trust between children and parents. Highlighting the responsibilities of parenting, she called for stronger relationships to ensure the proper upbringing of children.
"Raising children responsibly is a very important responsibility," Sajidha stated in her video message. She stressed that fostering strong relationships with children is essential for their proper development and well-being.
To strengthen these relationships, Sajidha suggested that parents engage with their children in age-appropriate activities, thereby nurturing a deeper connection. "In order to strengthen that relationship, we have to strengthen this relationship with children of different ages in different ways. Especially if we strengthen the relationship with children, we have to participate in activities at the child's level," she explained.
Sajidha also emphasized the unique approach needed in raising teenagers, advocating for treating them as close friends. She warned that without such an approach, children might lose trust in their parents. "If this is not done, children will not trust their parents," she said.
The First Lady’s message aligns with the broader objectives of UNICEF's Global Parenting Month, which aims to highlight and promote effective parenting practices worldwide.
