A total of MVR 19,186,851.5 has been raised during a telethon organized to support the Palestinian people, Managing Director Zeena Zahir of Public Service Media (PSM) announced today. The event, held from 8 am on June 12 to 6 pm on June 13, saw widespread participation from various government ministries, schools, and private individuals.
The telethon successfully gathered MVR 18,418,922.24 and $49,800 in contributions. The proceeds were officially handed over to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today. Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer accepted the symbolic check during a special ceremony, symbolizing the collective effort of the Maldivian people.
Following the handover, Minister Zameer confirmed that the details of the donation transferred to the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) to support their ongoing humanitarian efforts would be shared with Public Service Media and auditors for transparency and accountability.
