Indian High Commissioner Munu Mahawar has emphasized that the Hanimaadhoo International Airport development project will strengthen the bond between the Maldives and India.
During a visit to Hanimaadhoo Airport to inspect its progress, High Commissioner Mahawar noted that the construction is advancing as planned. He expressed satisfaction with the project’s potential to enhance tourism and other economic activities in the region.
"This airport will improve connectivity. It will boost tourism. It will also boost other economic activities. It will bring the people of the two countries closer together," said High Commissioner Mahawar in an interview at the airport.
The Hanimaadhoo airport project, a significant regional development, is being carried out by an Indian company with Indian assistance under the current Maldivian administration. Over 65 percent of the project is completed, with the runway painting and lighting works already finished.
