In today's by-elections for three vacant seats in the Malé City Council, the ruling Congress party (PNC) secured all three positions, according to the Election Commission.

The by-elections were conducted today to fill seats in the councils of Kulhudhuffushi, Rasmadhoo, Bilehdhoo and Male' City Council. Candidates contested under both the MDP and PNC banner for these city council seats.

Provisional results of the Male City Council by-elections indicated a clean sweep for the PNC candidates. According to the results, Aiman Ali clinched victory in the Hulhumale' council seat, previously held by current MP Ibrahim Shujau. Ahmed Zameer defended the Machchangolhi Central constituency seat, while Fathimath Ishan Ali secured the council seat against MDP's Hawwa Shifana.

Simultaneously, Ahmed Ifan, incumbent representative of Henveiru West in Parliament, successfully retained his council seat.

Meanwhile, voter turnout was recorded at 26 percent during polling hours from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm today.

The by-elections were necessitated by vacancies in the city council following the 20th parliamentary elections.
