Ambassadors from four countries presented their credentials to President Mohammed Muizzu this morning in a formal ceremony held at the President’s Office.
The event began with the ambassadors marching with official dignity from Republic Square to the President's Office.
The new ambassadors that presented their credentials include:
1. Ambassador of Swiss Confederation to the Maldives, Her Excellency Dr. Siri Walt.
2. High Commissioner of New Zealand to the Maldives, His Excellency David Pine.
3. Ambassador of European Union to the Maldives, Her Excellency Maria Carmen Moreno Raymundo.
4. Ambassador of Angola to the Maldives, His Excellency Clemente Pedro Francisco.
With the exception of the Angolan ambassador, all newly appointed ambassadors are designated as non-resident representatives to the Maldives and will be based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The Angolan ambassador, who will also serve as a non-resident ambassador to the Maldives, will be stationed in New Delhi, India.
Following the official ceremoney, the President met with the ambassadors individually to discuss enhancing bilateral relations between the Maldives and their respective countries. Topics included potential collaborations in tourism, education, and business.
