President Dr Mohamed Muizzu congratulated Paetongtarn Shinawatra following her appointment as the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand.
In a post shared on social media platform X, the President noted that the Kingdom of Thailand expressed hope for a new dawning of prosperity under the Prime Minister's able leadership. He also stated that he looks forward to working together to further strengthen the close ties of friendship and mutual cooperation between the Maldives and Thailand.
Diplomatic ties between the Maldives and Thailand were established on June 21, 1979.
