The funds raised by the recent telethon organized by state media PSM have been officially transferred to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
The telethon, which aimed to support Palestinians amid ongoing humanitarian crises, garnered a total of MVR 19,309,468.02.
Contributors to the telethon included government agencies, ministries, schools, private individuals, and prominent figures such as the President, First Lady, and several Ministers.
Following the Telethon, on July 3, PSM handed over the collected funds to the Ministry of Finance, which then coordinated the transfer to UNRWA’s account through the Monetary Authority of Maldives (MMA). The Foreign Ministry has confirmed that the funds have now been successfully transferred to UNRWA.
The telethon was initiated to provide critical support to the people of Gaza, who are experiencing severe hardship due to the ongoing conflict. This initiative demonstrates a unified effort to address the urgent humanitarian needs faced by Palestinians and underscores the commitment to alleviating their suffering.
