In a bid to extend public service opportunities, discussions have commenced with state institutions to implement a scheme allowing individuals to remain in public service for up to 75 years. This initiative targets retirees from the State Government and those who have reached the age of 65.
The Ministry of Higher Education and Labor and Skill Development has initiated these discussions, aligning with a promise made by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. The consultations involve various government agencies, Maldivian security forces, and independent institutions.
The primary goal of these meetings is to review existing retirement and employment retention regulations and to gather feedback on the first draft of the proposed bill. The Ministry aims to finalize the draft and submit it to the Attorney General's Office within the next month.
