Mohamed Shaheem Ali Said, Minister of Foreign Affairs, has denounced the ongoing violence in Gaza as "the most tragic incident in the history of humanity."

In a statement posted on X today, the minister expressed grave concern over the continued killing of Palestinian civilians, including children, the elderly, and women.

Minister Shaheem condemned the violence as a systematic extermination of a race that is occurring under the watchful eye of the international community. He described the situation as a catastrophic failure to prevent genocide, highlighting the severe humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.

"Palestinian children, the elderly, and women are being killed and genocided in front of the whole world," the minister stated. "The fact that such a large race is being destroyed and it cannot be stopped is the most tragic incident in the history of humanity."

The minister’s remarks come as the one-year anniversary of the escalation of violence on October 7 approaches. Despite repeated calls for a ceasefire and humanitarian aid, including a plea made by the minister at the OIC meeting in March, there remains no sign of a resolution to the conflict.

In his post, Minister Shaheem also extended his solidarity to the people of Palestine, adding, "May God protect the people of Palestine. Amen."
