President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has unveiled plans to develop a comprehensive 20-year National Development Masterplan for the Maldives, following a recommendation from the Cabinet.

In a public video message, the President outlined his vision for the ambitious project, which aims to be completed within a year and will involve broad-based participation from citizens across the nation.

The Masterplan will include input from political parties, civil society groups, experts, and various stakeholders, ensuring a collaborative approach to shaping the country's future. President Muizzu emphasized that the Masterplan will be underpinned by a new law specifically designed to provide legal backing and support for its implementation.

In his announcement, President Muizzu also mentioned that island-level discussions will soon begin, involving civil society representatives, sports figures, political leaders, and other respected individuals. These discussions are expected to gather diverse perspectives and contribute to the Masterplan’s development.

The President expressed his commitment to aligning the Masterplan with the aspirations of the Maldivian people, reflecting his consistent vision for the nation. He highlighted that the creation of a National Development Masterplan is a key part of his presidential pledges and reiterated his call for full engagement from all sectors of society to achieve this important goal.
