The government of Sri Lanka has declared a nationwide curfew from 10:00 PM tonight until 6:00 AM tomorrow, following the conclusion of the presidential election.

In response, the High Commission of the Maldives in Sri Lanka has issued an advisory urging Maldivian citizens to remain indoors during curfew hours. Maldivians requiring urgent assistance can contact the High Commission's emergency hotline for support.

This presidential election is the first since the post-COVID economic downturn in Sri Lanka. Voting was held from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM today, with provisional results expected to be announced soon.

The election is regarded as pivotal in the wake of Sri Lanka's recent economic challenges.
