The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Limited (MIFCO) has announced that it will pay MVR 17 million to fishermen before the end of next week.
In a statement released today, MIFCO revealed that discussions have been ongoing between the Ministry of Fisheries, the Ministry of Finance, and MIFCO regarding the outstanding bills owed to fishing boats since earlier this month.
MIFCO emphasized that the government continuously supports the company to ensure timely payments to the fishing community.
The prompt payment is intended to support local fishermen and strengthen the fishing industry in the Maldives.
